Job summary
We have two exciting opportunities for a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to come and join our team on the Isle of Wight
One role is a fixed term, 12 month contract for 15 hours a week and the second role is a permanent contract for 22.5 hours per week
The post holder is responsible for providing high quality, evidenced-based assessment, treatment and management for children with communication difficulties within a community setting
The post holder will work closely with our multidisciplinary team, children's services, preschools and schools. This can involve attending case conferences, joint appointments and providing education and training as required
The post holder is responsible for supervision of speech and language therapy assistants and students
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work at a specialist level to deliver assessment, differential diagnosis, interpretation, treatment and management to children with communication difficulties within the context of the community Paediatric Speech and language Therapy Service
To work collaboratively with colleagues ensuring multidisciplinary care planning and intervention
To contribute in a timely fashion to the process of assessment and review for EHCP (Education Healthcare Plan) of SEN, providing specialist reports and attending multidisciplinary meetings as required
To deliver effective training programmes to parents/carers and professionals
To contribute to supervision and training for the team including supporting newly qualified Speech and Language Therapists, Speech and Language Therapy Assistants and students
To maintain local and national standards with regards to maintaining good record keeping, caseload management and keeping up to date with mandatory training
To work within the recognised guidelines and legal requirements for paediatric care and SLT provision e.g. Education Act, Code of Practice, Child Protection
To maintain evidenced based knowledge through their own learning as well as in-service training, SLT CPD programme and external courses
