Community Paediatric Medical Service (CPMS) Specialist Nurse for Child Protection.

Working in partnership with our medics and multidisciplinary teams, we provide great care which safeguards children and young people ensuring the best possible outcomes are at the heart of what we do.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide expert child protection knowledge and skills as part of the Community Paediatric Medical Service (CPMS) delivering commissioned services for children and young people in Portsmouth.

You will need to co-ordinate and assist in child protection medicals for children and young people who are suspected of neglect or harm. Medicals will be undertaken at Queen Alexandra Hospital, with the on-call Community Paediatrician. The role will include supporting the Consultant with appropriate investigations and assessments. You will need excellent communication and negotiation skills to work with social workers, carers, parents, and police during a highly sensitive assessment. The child protection service operates Monday to Friday from 9am until 5pm, however there may be a requirement to work beyond 5pm to ensure cases are completed.

You would be involved in giving the children a voice and attending ICPC to support evidence that you have been involved in.

The expectation is to attend Strategy meetings for children and young people in Hampshire to help support and guide professionals in relation to child protection medical.
