Job summary

NHS Talking Therapies Isle of Wight are seeking applications from highly motivated individuals to work as an Associate Wellbeing Practitioner. This a permanent, full-time position.

The post holder will assist in the delivery of protocol-driven psychological interventions under the supervision of a qualified Practitioner within NHS Talking Therapies Isle of Wight. These interventions will be delivered to patients who experience anxiety disorders and depression and fall within clusters 1 to 4. This work may be via, video, telephone or face to face in a community clinic. The postholder will work with people with different cultural backgrounds, disabilities and ages, and should be committed to equal opportunities.

The successful candidate will be supported in their role by attending weekly supervision sessions with a clinical supervisor within the team. With this role being part of the wider Step 2 Team, there will be additional duties to support the Step 2 team.

The successful candidate will understand the needs and difficulties of people with mental ill health or learning disabilities and have an awareness of the application of psychology to health care.

Please note before applying this is not a remote working position as the successful candidate will be required to be available across the working week for in-person focused activities relating to the role.

Main duties of the job

To attend weekly team meetings and contribute accordingly by providing objective clinical information to assist in decision-making.

To attend weekly supervision sessions with a PWP supervisor within the team.

Communications with clients must at all times be safe (appropriate) in content, effective and respectful and made compassionately and positively to minimise anxiety and distress related to their health and well-being.

Uses appropriate communication methods to ensure effective therapeutic engagement with clients where understanding may be limited.

Makes judgements and responds appropriately to client's responses and mood during psycho-educational interventions.

Analyses patients' progress when facilitating psycho-educational groups and makes recommendations to the qualified PWP (referring practitioner) in relation to possible adjustments required to the activities.

When undertaking risk management plan reviews identifies non-routine situations and escalates to qualified staff.

Responsible for maintaining appropriate boundaries with service users.

Undertakes basic analysis of data from clinical audits.

Prepares materials and visual aids to facilitate delivery of psychoeducational groups as developed within Isle Talk IAPT

Uses basic mental health measures (minimum data set).

Plans and organises delivery of identified psychoeducational groups in accordance with identified treatment plan by qualified PWP
