You do not need any previous mental health experience - just compassion and a willingness to learn.

Our inpatient mental health unit consists of three wards: an 8 bedded mixed sex Older Persons mental health ward, a 16 bedded mixed sex adult acute mental health ward and a 6 bedded Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit and you will be required to work across all our wards when needed. You will be part of a team that values collaboration and personal growth. We will support you with training, and development opportunities to support you to progress your career in mental health if you should wish.

Main duties of the job

About the Role:

The Support Worker, under the supervision of registered staff, will be responsible for the delivery of the highest standard of practice in the care, treatment, and support of the person with Mental Illness.

This post is designed to be flexible across the wards within the mental health unit.

As a Healthcare Support Worker in the inpatient mental health unit, you will:

*Be responsible for providing the highest quality of care for people with mental ill health under the supervision of registered staff

*Work effectively as part of a team.

*Work closely with colleagues within Mental Health Service as a whole, and across other services as required.

*Work with colleagues to manage people with complex needs and high levels of dependency.

*Under the supervision of registered staff, to undertake nursing needs assessments and reviews as requested.

*The post holder will be expected to work alongside other staff to share and promote good practice.

*To contribute to service improvements relating to mental ill health, in line with both the local and national modernisation agenda.
