Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic Assistant Psychologist to join our Basingstoke CAMHS team. This is a part time, permanent post providing psychological support to children, adolescents and their families. We are a caring and inclusive team who seek to provide high quality, compassionate care to those who use our service. There is potential to gain experience in a range of clinical areas, and we are keen to support you in developing your skills. As part of this role you will contribute to the neurodevelopmental pathway, supporting autism and ADHD assessments, writing associated reports and taking part in meetings. You will be expected to help facilitate therapeutic groups for young people, undertake duty tasks, as well as deliver short term individual interventions. You will also support qualified psychologists with updating risk assessments and care plans, and work on service improvement projects. There will be regular supervision from a psychologist and a peer mentor group available as well as opportunities to link with other psychologists across the service. We ensure continuing professional development through a comprehensive in-house training program and external training opportunities. Main duties of the job
To support and enhance the professional psychological care of users of the service, providing psychological assessments and interventions, including in group settings, within the scope appropriate to level of experience and training, and to undertaking related tasks to enhance assessment, intervention and evaluation within the care group. The role will also involve the formulation of risk and need to deliver care plans involving the psychological as well as management of service user needs in settings where there may be high expressed emotion, challenging behaviour and potential hostility. The successful candidate will contribute to wider multidisciplinary conversations and work collaboratively with other professionals to achieve the best results for our service users.
The job will also involve administrative tasks, including the maintenance of a stock of relevant tests, test materials and equipment, the maintenance and awareness of relevant Trust, Psychology and Psychological Therapies policies and procedures and responsibilities regarding incident reporting and Safeguarding in line with Trust policies. There will also be the opportunity for involvement in research, clinical audit and service review.
