Hampshire and IOW Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Podiatry Service sits within Community Specialist Services Division as part of the Long Term Conditions Sub Division. We operate from key hub sites and other community settings including patients homes. We cover a large geography of three localities, Mid and North (Andover, Basingstoke, Winchester, Eastleigh, Alton), West (Southampton, West Hampshire) and East (Portsmouth, East Hampshire). Successful candidates will be based at one of these localities however, you may be required to travel across localities at times.
Podiatry has close links with secondary care with opportunities to work within University Hospital of Southampton as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job
Undertake a range of wound assessment, complex MSK assessments and management including debridement, casting techniques, advanced and innovative wound care practice, x-ray and prescribing/influencing medication relating to disease control (i.e. Diabetes, rheumatoid, vascular foot disease), antibiotic therapy, orthotic management, and x-ray.
Undertake and participate in appraisals, CPD, clinical rotation, supervision, mentoring and peer review which will involve students, HIOWH NHS Foundation Trust colleagues and external members.
To work closely with the Podiatry team and other Health Care Professionals to ensure the appropriate management of patients referred for podiatry assessment
Assess lifestyle choices and provide Public Health brief intervention when required. Signpost patients ready for behaviour change to relevant specialist public health services.
Be responsible for their own caseload, working autonomously to provide specialist assessment, diagnosis and management plans for acute and chronic conditions of the foot, ankle and related structures including wound care.
Identify the need for, and provision of a range of off-loading strategies.
Demonstrate knowledge, safe and effective use of local anaesthetic drugs including. Identify the need for and undertake minor nail procedure including.
