Mental Health Practitioner

Job summary

The post holder will work in partnership with service users in the designated care group with complex health presentations, developing their care plans and recovery plans to enable them to lead fulfilling lives. They will provide specialist assessment and interventions relevant to the care group to include education, care plans and discharge planning, working closely with carers, families, and partner agencies to facilitate this. The post holder will work at all times to promote the safety and the wellbeing of service users and their families/carers. The post holder will assess, plan, and implement care, and provide specialist advice and interventions including supporting other members of the team. They will provide clinical supervision to staff and students and act as a mentor for students. They will provide line management responsibilities if required within the designated area. They will participate in review of clinical policies and guidelines relevant to the area and support and implement changes to practice; liaise with other organisations and professionals to promote communication and good practice; be able to undertake audit activity. Understand psychosocial interventions to include psychoeducation, wellness recovery action plans and discharge planning.

Main duties of the job

One of our key priorities is finding the right type of person who shares our values of patients first, working together and always improving; someone with the ability and attitude to grow and develop in the Trust as a valued member of our team. We would be interested to hear from Allied Health Care Professionals, Creative Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Mental Health Nurses, Systemic Practitioners, Social Workers or those already working in mental health. Experience or interest in group work would be a bonus.

Key tasks include:

*Undertaking complex assessments of children and young peoples mental health needs.

*Undertaking comprehensive risk assessments and engaging young people and their family in safety planning.

*Working as part of a multi disciplinary team to offer advice and consultation to professional partners such as GP's, schools and social care.

*Working as part of a multi disciplinary team to offer clinical advice and consultation to children young people and their families.

*Co producing evidence based care plans with children, young people and their families.

*Managing a case load of clients and delivering evidenced based interventions.

*Group facilitation.

If you have a strong interest in working with children with mental health needs and their families, have excellent communication skills, can work alongside a multitude of different disciplines with the client in the centre and you hold the relevant qualifications/ skills, we would be delighted to hear from you.

  • Current professional registration with an approved professional body (NMC, HCPC, Social Work England).
  • Or
  • * Evidence of having achieved and completed the Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes (KSA) KSA portfolio route to BABCP Accreditation with current accreditation of the BABCP).
  • * Evidence of continuous professional development.
  • * Degree / diploma level supplemented by specialist qualification, training, experience, courses to master's level equivalent relevant to the care group.
  • * Evidence of post registration training in relevant service area.
  • * Completion of Mentorship Course / Practice Supervisor Course.
