Job summary
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, in partnership with the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Southampton, is seeking to appoint a Mental Health Mission Cohort Manager to contribute to the Mental Health Mission, with a focus on treatment-resistant affective disorders, particularly treatment-resistant depression (TRD).
This role is governed by the employment terms and conditions of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, with honorary affiliation to the University of Southampton.
The successful candidate will play a key role in leading on the setup, delivery, and closure of research studies within the Mental Health Mission cohort. Responsibilities will include engaging with clinical teams, recruiting study participants, administering research measures, and managing associated documentation and study procedures.
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual with a strong background in clinical research, project coordination, or mental health services to contribute to a high-impact programme aimed at transforming care for individuals with complex mood disorders.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will take a lead role in delivering the objectives of the Mental Health Mission grant, working as part of a multidisciplinary team with a specific focus on treatment-resistant depression (TRD). This includes strategic oversight and hands-on involvement in research activities, clinical engagement, and patient-centred initiatives. Core responsibilities include:
*Establishing and managing a cohort of patients with affective disorders to support longitudinal research and clinical insight.
*Leading the administration of structured participant interviews and validated psychometric assessments.
*Overseeing the collection of biological samples, including bloodwork and other relevant biomarkers, in accordance with study protocols.
*Designing and facilitating a regular six-monthly Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) meeting to ensure meaningful engagement and co-production.
*Providing regular progress updates and strategic input to Professor David Baldwin and other senior stakeholders.
*Leading the development and implementation of an enhanced access research clinic, including its integration with local mental health services.
*Driving engagement with Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement Partners to shape the clinic's design and operations.
*Expanding clinic activity through funded clinical roles and promoting best practices in patient identification and recruitment.
