Job summary

We are recruiting for a Research Education Lead to join our team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced individual with a passion for research and education to play a key role in strengthening our research culture, and the research capacity and capability of our workforce.

The successful candidate will lead on the development, coordination, and delivery of research education and training within the academy and across the organisation, supporting colleagues at all levels to engage with and contribute to research in a bespoke way.

Main duties of the job

Key Activities / Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate the South Central Internship Programme, including stakeholder engagement, webinar delivery, training coordination, award management, and evaluation.

Design and deliver research education programmes such as the Researcher Development Programme and Research Leaders Programme.

Facilitate workshops and drop-in sessions to build research skills and confidence.

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify and develop research opportunities aligned with local health and care priorities.

Promote equitable access to research education across the organisation.

Support staff to develop research competencies through tailored educational interventions.

Act as a mentor and role model for staff engaging in research.

Use advanced communication skills to engage and motivate staff, build relationships, and promote research.

Apply analytical and judgement skills to evaluate programme effectiveness and adapt delivery accordingly.

Plan and organise training schedules, events, and strategic education initiatives.

Contribute to policy and service development related to research education and training.

Engage in research and development activities to inform and improve educational practice.

Staff Responsibilities

The role does not include direct line management but involves mentoring and supporting staff across the organisation. The postholder will provide advice, demonstrate activities, and contribute to the development of others through training and educational support

Financial Responsibilities

No direct budgetary responsibility. The postholder will observe a personal duty of care in relation to equipment and resources used in the course of their work.

Physical, Mental and Emotional EffortPhysical Office-based with prolonged periods of computer use; occasional travel across sites and to training venues

Mental High levels of concentration required for planning, delivery, and evaluation of training programmes; managing competing priorities.

Emotional May involve supporting staff through challenging research journeys or confidence-building, requiring empathy and resilience.

Working Conditions

Primarily office-based with travel across Trust sites. Occasional evening webinars or workshops. Flexible working arrangements may be considered.
