Peer Support Workers are people with lived experience of mental health conditions and mental health services. They use their experiences and empathy to support other people and their families receiving mental health services, and to model recovery.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate, highly motivated Peer Support Worker to join our Inpatient team. The successful candidate will work as an integral member of our Inpatient multi-disciplinary teams, helping to support people on their recovery journey.

We serve a population of approximately 150,000 residents, making the services we offer variable and personalised with a flexible approach to our service users.
The Isle of Wight is a unique and stunning gem located off the South Coast of England, a short ferry journey from Portsmouth and Southampton, with journey times taking from as little as 10 minutes. Main duties of the job
As a Band 3 Peer Support Worker, you will play a key role in offering empathetic support alongside practical assistance to empower people to feel in control of their lives and their own unique recovery process. This role will focus on supporting people in our inpatient setting.
You will:
*Promote choice, self-determination and opportunities for the fulfilment of socially valued roles and connection to local communities.
*To act as a recovery champion within the team
*You will support clinical staff working within the Acute Care pathway to ensure that people are offered the right support at the right time..
*To contribute to new service developments and actively take these forwards as required.
*You will need to be able to establish empathetic and respectful relationships within clear boundaries, engaging effectively and communicating with people in crisis, often under challenging and emotive circumstances.
