Job summary
We are recruiting for a Senior Community Nurse to join our team in our Community Unit.
- The accountability within your role is in line with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) code, which says that you must work together for the safeguarding and well-being of the public
- Provide supervision, education, and training to the Community Unit staff.
- Act as an advocate for patients to ensure the highest levels of care are delivered.
- Safeguard the delivery of high standards of care
- Deputise for the Community Unit Lead to cover the management of the Community Unit beds and assessments for admission to Community Unit in their absence as and when required.
- In conjunction with the Community Unit Lead provide effective clinical leadership.
- Responsible for the delivery of high standards of nursing care to all patients.

Main duties of the job
- To act up for the Community Unit Lead in their absence on a regular basis and to assist in the day-to-day management of the Community Unit and hospital assessments as appropriate to provide management and a high standard of clinical leadership.
- In conjunction with the Community Unit Lead provide clear and consistent leadership to the Community Unit team, achieving and maintaining high morale, based on sound organisation and clear relationships.
- All actions in line with NMC codes and other statutory and organisational standards.
- Educate and support staff with the Community Unit Lead. Identify staff development needs through the appraisal process.
- As a senior member of the Community Unit act as a role model to all members of staff, student nurses and visitors to the community unit.
- Support the Community Unit to manage and monitor clinical standards in line with the Trust policies through audit process.
- To provide information as required, including notification of incidents and accidents to staff, patients and visitors.
- Initiate the investigation of concerns related to poor clinical practice or staff management. Escalate all concerns when there is a concern over the care being delivered by an individual to the Community Unit Lead.
