Job summary
We are recruiting for a Senior Physiotherapist to join our MSK team on the Isle of Wight to participate in the senior Physiotherapy rotational scheme, which may involve working in a range of settings which include: MSK OP, and Orthopedic In-patients.
You will participate and be an active member of orthopedic weekend rota.
As a valued team member you will provide a high standard of physiotherapy across all settings
The successful candidate will manage a caseload of patients with varying diagnosis and/or complex needs, using evidence based/patient centered principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions in a defined clinical area.
You will always act in the best interest of the patients under your care.
Main duties of the job
To independently perform advanced physiotherapeutic assessment of with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, to provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualized treatment program.
To independently hold responsibility for a caseload and be responsible for a defined area of the service or a particular patient type, working without direct supervision, rotating between specialist areas. Supervision taking the form of regular formal training and clinical reasoning sessions, peer review, case conferences. Access to advice and support from a clinical specialist physiotherapist will be available if required, clinical work is not routinely evaluated.
To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as a specialist autonomous practitioner.
To independently supervise, educate and assess the performance of physiotherapy students; this would be to a graduate standard involving working alongside and in liaison with universities to ensure the standard of practice and teaching meets the standards set by the degree level qualification.
To undertake evidence-based audit and research projects to further own and team's clinical practice within each rotation. Make recommendations to clinical lead/head of service for changes to practice by the team.
To deputise for the physiotherapy team leader in operational management.

- HPC Registration Continued Professional
- Development Diary inc evidence or reflective practice, in service training any courses attended and clinical experience gained.
- Broad range of experience at junior level including ICU, medical, surgery, neurology, orthopaedics, musculoskeletal outpatients and elderly care.
- Demonstrate up to date knowledge of best clinical practice in relevant specialty.
- Participation in on-call and or weekend rota.
- Experience of working as part of a physiotherapy team and multidisciplinary team
- Remains up to date with professional practice and new research.
- Understands the legal responsibilities of the profession
- Understanding of Clinical Governance and the implications for physiotherapy services including experience of quality issues and audit.
