Job summary

Are you a practitioner psychologist seeking to grow you career in CAMHS? Come and work for us! We are delighted to be able to offer a Band 8A role for a dynamic and caring psychologist with a passion for working with children and families. This is a part time (0.6) permanent post based in the Fareham and Gosport CAMHS team. We are a warm and lively multi-disciplinary team who are united in the commitment to provide the highest quality care to the children, young people and families using our service.

At Hampshire CAMHS we follow a Stepped Care Model including, MHST, Single Point of Access, Early Help, Digital Teams and Community Teams alongside specialist CAMHS services including forensic, eating disorders, crisis, closer to home and inpatient. We have well developed assessment and treatment pathways to ensure an evidence based and consistent service across CAMHS. You will have scope to develop your own areas of interest either in relation to specific presentations or therapy models.

Main duties of the job

To provide quality driven assessments, psychological formulations and interventions to children and young people experiencing a wide range of complex and severe mental health problems. Delivering a variety of interventions (individual and group) to families and young people in line with their needs and goals.

To be part of the Neurodevelopmental Team by contributing to neurodevelopmental assessments and team discussions.

Working together with other agencies and services to develop and implement interventions and care plans and ensure successful transitions between services.

To be an integral part in developing and delivering clinical care pathways.

Form part of the MDT providing consultation and supervision and developing psychological knowledge within the MDT.

Being part of the leadership team at Fareham and Gosport CAMHS supporting the development of innovative and effective ways of working and participating in systematic clinical governance.

Supervising and supporting the development of other psychologists and psychological therapists in the team, including trainee clinical psychologists on placement from the University of Southampton.

To utilise research skills for audit, service development and research within the area served by the team/service.

  • Post-graduate doctoral level training in applied psychology [or its equivalent for those trained before 1996 or outside the UK*] as approved by the HCPC, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.
  • For forensic psychologists working in forensic settings: Masters degree (with the award of the British Psychological Society qualification in forensic psychology or equivalent).
  • Professionally registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health Professions Council (HCPC).
