Job summary

We are looking for a caring & compassionate individual with a passion for making a real difference to people's lives in the local community.

As the receptionist you are the first port of call & you represent the trust & our values. It is the responsibility of each receptionist to assist in the smooth running of the Hospital &it's Reception area. Duties will include switchboard, greeting & directing visitors to the site, and general reception duties.

A professional and sensitive manner is required as the post holder will be liaising with patients daily requiring courtesy, discretion, and confidentiality always, to project a positive, efficient, and friendly image to our patients and other professionals who may contact us either in person or via the telephone always ensuring continuity of service.

The successful applicant should be welcoming, possess good communication, literacy, numeracy, & IT skills, as well as good organisational skills & able to work accurately & methodically as part of a team or on your own.

Duties will include but not limited to taking telephone enquiries and directing them to the relevant departments, ensuring all visitors are welcomed and signposted accordingly, meeting/clinic room bookings, incoming & outgoing post, reporting of estates/building issues, general administration work. Proficiency in Microsoft Office & Microsoft Excel is essential.

Previous experience of working within an NHS environment is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.

Main duties of the job

*The role of receptionist is an integral part of the team working in a patient facing clinical setting. The receptionist is generally the first point of contact our visitors and patients have during their hospital visit or telephone communication.

*The post holder is required to be well presented and to welcome visitors, patients, and contractors into the hospital in a professional and friendly manner, answering any queries and directing them to where they need to be, giving reassurance when needed. The receptionist also supports colleagues in ensuring the hospital runs smoothly and efficiently.

*To maintain service user's confidentiality and exercise discretion in completion of duties.

*To undertake other administration tasks to support clinical and non-clinical staff in their duties.
