We have 2 exciting opportunities to join Southampton CAMHS as Assistant Psychologists within the core specialist CAMHS team and our inpatient service at Austen House.
The first role is supporting the work we do at Southampton CAMHS with the Youth Justice Service (YJS). Southampton Youth Justice Service (SYJS based at Southampton City Council, Civic Centre, Southampton, SO14 7LY) works with children from as young as 10 up to 18 years of age, that break the law. These children could have been sentenced by a court or have come to the attention of the police but not been charged.
This is a part-time post based at CAMHS Horizon Centre in Southampton
The second role is at Austen House which accommodates both a seven bedded Low Secure Service and a soon to be opened seven bedded Psychiatric Intensive Care Service. Both of which sit alongside well-established Medium Secure and General Adolescent Units at Bluebird House and Serenity Path, respectively. The role will involve being based within the Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit but will require flexible working across the units, according to clinical need.
This is a full time role based at Tatchbury Mount
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will work alongside other psychological therapy colleagues and a comprehensive multi-disciplinary team. The purpose of the role is to contribute to the provision of a psychological therapies service to young people, their families, and carers. In addition to the delivery of therapeutic work, the role will involve contributing to the promotion of a psychologically informed environment and working with staff teams supporting highly complex cases. With appropriate support and supervision, the post-holder will offer consultation on relevant aspects of the needs and care of young people and the systems around them to contribute to formulations and management plans of a young person's needs and risk. The post also offers opportunities to contribute to training and workforce development and to use research skills for audit, policy, and service.
We require Assistant Psychologists who have experience working with a children's social care or mental health setting as this is a higher banding AP post.
