Eating Disorders Paediatric Liaison

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time Nurse to join the Paediatric Liaison Team within the Hampshire CAMHS Eating Disorder Service. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic registered nurse (Mental Health, Learning Disability or Children's) with post qualifying experience. Previous CAMHS experience is not essential but would be of benefit. Experience of using evidence based systemic interventions, working with families and experience of working with eating disorders is desirable.

The post holder will take a lead in assessment, care planning and facilitating safe discharge for children and young people who are admitted to paediatric wards and referred to the Eating Disorder Service, working collaboratively with the MDT and seeking supervision as appropriate.

The post entails working in a lively, busy Multi-disciplinary Team delivering high quality mental health assessment and predominantly systemic intervention to children and young people with eating disorders and their families.

The team covers a large geographical area and works in partnership with other agencies and professionals within Hampshire.

The post holder will receive supervision, support and training from the team.

The ability to commute within the service's geographical area with access to the appropriate means of transport is essential.

Main duties of the job

To undertake assessments of individuals and their families in the designated care group with complex health presentations, including those service users presenting with higher levels of risk. To develop alongside the service user their care plan.

To assess and manage on going risks as identified during the assessment, ensuring that this is done in collaboration with the service user and carers. To regularly review risk factors and make changes to the management of them as necessary.

To provide a highly specialised range of clinical interventions relevant to the care group and have knowledge of evidence-based models of practice.

To develop care plans that meet the needs of the individual and their family or carers as appropriate and that are focused on strengths and are outcome based.

To work with carers and family members, offering carers assessments and providing support and information to them as indicated. Signposting to third sector agencies to ensure they receive appropriate advice and support.

To work closely and in partnership with colleagues in other services within the Trust in a collaborative way, ensuring that decisions are made that ensure the best care for service users and that there is a seamless pathway.
