Specialist Community Children¿s Nurse & Clinical Educator

Job summary
We are looking for an experienced Community Childrens Nurse (CCN) to take on this exciting role as clinical educator within our service for a six month period.
The Clinical Educator is a key role within the CCN service and will work closely with the Clinical Team Leads, CCN Oncology Lead and Matron while leading on training, clinical skills and the education and development of Specialist Practitioner Qualified (SPQ) CCNs.
You will need to hold the CCN SPQ, have experience of clinical leadership, caseload management, line management and supervision as well as experience of teaching and supporting CCN SPQ learners in practice. Ideally you will hold an education qualification or be willing to undertake the required modules upon appointment. Within this role you will have the opportunity to support Nurses to progress beyond registration into specialist practitioners as well as contribute to the general education and clinical skills of Nurses within the service.
Our CCN team works collaboratively with babies, children, young people (BCYP) and families as well as other professionals to ensure care is provided within the community wherever possible. We provide high quality and holistic, family centred care to BCYP with a nursing need across Southampton, Portsmouth and South Hampshire area including those with; Long term conditions, Disabilities, complex conditions, those requiring continuing care, life-limiting and life-threatening illness, including those requiring palliative and end of life care.
Main duties of the job
Support the development of specialist skills and knowledge of the team to maintain the competency level of the whole team.
Promote an environment in which teaching, learning, staff development and evidence based practice is actively encouraged and demonstrated.
Undertake assessment of learner's competence to practice and take responsibility for making recommendations as to whether the learner has met the required.
In partnership with University, be able to assess the learner against predetermined criteria within the Nursing Midwifery Council framework.

Act as a supervisor/assessor and role model for student nurses and other team members.
Demonstrate excellence in clinical practice, keeping up-to-date with new developments in nursing care and treatments ensuring practice is evidence based by embedding current research.
Providing support and maximising individuals potential by acting as an advisor on education opportunities.
Adhere to required Trust and University policies and procedures to facilitate the development of the learner through an academic pathway against required standards.
Demonstrate teaching and assessing skills by completion of Practice Educator course or be willing to undertake the necessary modules upon appointment to the post.
Act as a resource of specialised paediatric expertise.
