Managing Director - Isle of Wight Division

Job summary

The Managing Director has overall accountability for strategic and operational management of the service, business planning, developing strategy, ensuring implementation of strategy, and that performance targets and strategic objectives are met. The Managing Director is the most senior operational point of contact for staff in the Division, they will oversee/line manage all services in the Division through the agreed structure.

You will be responsible and accountable for the operational performance and clinical delivery, working closely with the Clinical Director and the Director of Quality and Professions to deliver care to the expected standard within the Division.

You are responsible for cohesive partnership arrangements within the Division to enable the implementation and embedding of transformational change and operational delivery in-line with Trust, local and national plans

The post holder will be regularly required to represent the Trust and/or the Deputy Chief Operating Officer/Chief Operating Officer at external strategic and operational meetings and regional/national events.

The role will be accountable for the control of a multi-million pound budget and have responsibility for budget decisions, use of resources, year-end balance and cost efficiency programme delivery, implementing financial and people plans as ensuring our services are delivering high quality patient care.

Main duties of the job

Quality & Governance

To ensure there are robust processes in place for the review and development of services and care pathways, working closely with the CD & DQP to achieve compliance with national standards and guidance, NICE guidelines, Department of Health /commissioning targets, and KPIs.

Lead the development of high quality, affordable services for the local population, ensuring effective and safe delivery of the highest quality, and clinical outcomes.

Ensure the delivery of robust operational management and integrated governance systems. This includes ensuring accurate and robust data monitoring

Strategic Planning & Organisation

Lead the development of the Divisional business plan

Ensure that the Division's Business Plan & Annual Operating Plan are congruent with the Trust's overall service and capital strategies and developed within the agreed planning framework.

Lead the development of workforce and financial plans with the CD & DQP

Operational Planning, Delivery and Performance

Develop and implement effective monitoring arrangements to accurately review performance (activity, access, quality, finance, and workforce) against local/National targets and advise and pro-actively manage variance to ensure KPIs, contractual requirements are met

Lead the monthly formal performance review for the Division, supported by the CD & DQP.

Ensure the effective operational management of the service

  • Evidence of professional development.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Leadership / Healthcare Management / Project Management or equivalent experience
  • Specialist training to Doctorate or senior equivalent level qualification or equivalent experience

  • Clinical qualification and experience of working as a senior clinician within an equivalent setting.
