Bladder and Bowel Clinical Nurse Specialist

Job summary

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare is seeking two Bladder and Bowel Nurses to join our specialist team. We have opportunities within both our Southampton and South East Hampshire localities. Successful candidates will become part of both their local multidisciplinary community team, which forms an integral part of the Hampshire wide Community Bladder and Bowel Service.

We are looking for candidates who either hold additional qualifications in continence care or who have a strong interest in developing their skills in this field. Training and upskilling will be provided as part of the role.

As a Bladder and Bowel Nurse, you will provide holistic support to patients across a variety of settings, including clinics, patients homes, and care homes. The primary aim of the service is to understand each patient's individual needs through specialist assessment and then to develop a conservative treatment and management plan that will support and promote their independence.

You will also work closely with and support the development of unregistered and junior staff within the service. You will also be required to work closely and collaboratively with other relevant clinicians and services across the local healthcare system to promote both seamless pathways and joined up care for our patients.

Main duties of the job

To provide specialist holistic assessment of patients who are referred into the service with bladder and bowel symptoms.

To work with patients to develop conservative treatment and management plans that meet their needs.

To support with triage of referrals coming into the service.

To appropriately refer patients on to other services as required.

To work within their locality to build strong relationships with other local healthcare services that may be involved in a patients care.

To support and line manage junior and unregistered members of the team.
