Job summary
This is a really exciting opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist to be at the forefront of the continued development of a multi disciplinary CAMHS Learning Disability team across Hampshire. We are looking for a Speech and Language therapist to work alongside the clinical lead and other disciplines to continue developing our SALT offer within the team. The post holder will also help with the development of pathways and shaping the wider culture of the team.
You will get to join a small group of dedicated and skilled professionals who are looking to continue to develop the specalist offer for young people that have a Learning Disability and a mental health difficulty or complex behaviours that challenge.
The team has an experienced occupational therapist and want a Speech and Language therapist to join our Allied Health Professional workforce to share the excitement and the opportunity with us.
You will part of the wider Allied Health Professional workforce within Hampshire CAMHS which is a developing group of clinicals. Supervision will be given and there will be opportunities to access further training both internally and externally within the trust.
The main focus of the role would be to offer universal and Targeted support. This would include things such as supporting with development of resources, leading on accessible information and offering consultation to the team and wider service.
Main duties of the job
This post will have responsibility for reviewing and adjusting where needed the direction and pathways for SALT provision within the MDT.
One of the main areas that the Speech and language therapist will focus on is the Universal offer. This would be leading on embedding key accessible information practices into everyday working. Also looking at reasonable adjustments within the environment and that can be rolled out for the whole of the CAMHS service.
The Speech and language therapist will offer drop in clinic and training to the team to build up knowledge within the MDT. They will also be part of the consultation offer to the wider CAMHS service.
The Speech and Language Therapist will offer direct case consultation to the local team, prioritising complex cases and those related to the adapted interventions. Specialist SALT assessment and interventions may be offered by the post holder where local services have been unable to meet needs of the individual due to complex mental health needs.
To support with the development of resources and workshops for parents and carers to attend. This will ensure parents can access the right information and strategies to support their child's Speech and language needs needs within the context of their difficulties.
The post holder will be required to work across Hampshire alongside other MDT colleagues. To be part of the conversation around how direct clinical work can be sustainable
