Inpatient Ward Clerk

Calling Administrators!

We are looking for an Inpatient Ward Clerk to provide administration support to our busy wards and our clinical teams within the South of England Rehabilitation Centre (SERC), based at Western Community Hospital.

SERC provides specialist inpatient rehabilitation care to people living in and around the area.

You will be the first point of contact dealing with various administrative duties including Reception, patient records system, general scanning and filing, telephone enquiries, data base input and patient engagement.

We are looking for a team member that can work Mondays, Tuesdays & Wednesdays 8-4pm.

Main duties of the job

  • To be first point of contact for visitors either via the telephone or face to face.
  • Word processing of correspondence.
  • Scanning and general filing of patient information.
  • To use Trust email & intranet systems as required
  • To ensure that post is collected and distributed.
  • Carry out routine daily admin processes, which may involve retrieving information from electronic systems or from manual filing systems.
  • To request patient transport and deal with enquiries as they arise.
  • Request and maintain levels of office stationery.
  • Deal with maintenance requisitions.
  • Provide cover for absence and annual leave of other administrative staff.

  • Educated to GSCE Grade 4 or above in English or equivalent standard
  • Completion of NVQ 2 in Business Admin or equivalent proven experience

Desirable

  • RSA 2 word processing/typing or equivalent
  • Completion of ECDL or equivalent

Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience of Windows based packages eg Word, Outlook, Excel.
  • Previous experience of working in a constantly changing environment.

Desirable

  • Previous experience of working within the NHS.

  • To be able to work without immediate supervision, prioritising and managing own time.
  • To work under pressure, being flexible and adaptable in order to meet priorities.
