Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Full Time Band 6 Specialist Physiotherapist to join our dynamic Inpatient Therapy Team based at Lymington New Forest Hospital. The Therapy Team delivers the highest quality of care to acutely unwell patients across our medical and rehabilitation wards. The team consists of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Rehabilitation Assistants.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years clinical experience working in acute medical, respiratory, and inpatient or community rehabilitation settings, with a particular focus on the care of older adults.
Experience working with older people living with complex frailty, multi- morbidity, and functional decline is desirable. A sound understanding of the physical, psychological, and social factors affecting this population is essential, along with the ability to deliver person-centred physiotherapy interventions as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Applicants should be confident in clinical reasoning, autonomous decision-making, and leading others in a fast-paced environment, with a commitment to high-quality, evidence-based practice.
Main duties of the job
To provide specialist physiotherapy skills across the inpatient medical and rehabilitation wards at Lymington New Forest Hospital.
To manage a varied caseload, including patients with complex and high-acuity conditions, using a flexible and adaptive approach to meet changing clinical demands.
To participate in discharge planning processes, which may include carrying out home visits to assess patient needs and ensure a safe transition from hospital to home.
To deliver both individual and group interventions, tailored to the clinical needs of patients.
To maintain accurate and up to date patient records as an autonomous practitioner and in accordance with legal requirements, Trust standards and Professional Standards.
To assist the Therapy Lead in the education and supervision of junior colleagues, assistants and students.
To assist the Therapy Lead in daily management of the team and provision of therapy service, deputising for the Band 7s in their absence.
To assist the Therapy Lead in service development and quality improvement initiatives, supporting the delivery of efficient, evidence-based care.
