Job summary
An exciting opportunity for a dynamic, enthusiastic Clinical Team Lead to join the pioneering Specialist Mental Health Support Team (MHST) working with Children and Young people and their families in Special Schools and those who are electively home educated. This post will lead this innovative new team in building our specialist offer in the county. We welcome applications from those with social work, CBT, Nursing or Occupational Therapy backgrounds.
You will work closely in supporting the development of the team. You will be qualified in LI supervision approaches or be willing to work towards a postgraduate qualification in evidence-based supervision in the first year. You will have a passion and motivation for working with Autistic children and young people with or without a learning disability, to improve the mental health and emotional wellbeing of this population.
You will offer assessments and specialist interventions to children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties, as well as contributing to the core work of the team. The role also provides the opportunity to deliver evidence-based group interventions, as well as Whole School Approach work, including consultation and advice to school staff and parents and carers during stay & play sessions, coffee mornings or inset days, working closely with SENCos, MH Leads and school heads to support escalation of behaviours that require a getting help level of care.
Main duties of the job
- The post holder will work in partnership with service users in the MHST, developing their care plans to enable them to lead fulfilling lives.
- They will provide specialist assessment and interventions relevant to the MHST to include education, care plans and discharge planning, working closely with carers, families, and partner agencies to facilitate this.
- The post holder will work at all times to promote the safety and the wellbeing of service users and their families/carers.
- The post holder will assess, plan, and implement care, and provide specialist advice and interventions including supporting other members of the team.
- They will provide clinical supervision to staff and students and act as a mentor for students. They will provide line management responsibilities to the team.
- They will participate in review of clinical policies and guidelines relevant to the MHST and support and implement changes to practice; liaise with other organisations and professionals to promote communication and good practice; be able to undertake audit activity.
- Understand psychosocial interventions to include psychoeducation, wellness recovery action plans and discharge planning.
