There is an exciting vacancy for a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant (Band 4) within our Community Learning Disability Team in North and West Hampshire.
The successful candidate will need to have a positive approach and willingness to learn new skills in this varied and interesting role. You will need to be motivated, reliable and able to work flexibly.
Main duties of the job
What are some of the duties?
As a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant, you will be helping the Therapists with their interventions and some of the tasks you will fulfil may include (but are not limited to):
- Carrying out assessment activities within agreed scope of practice: e.g. observation schedule, collecting information from others (service user/family/carers), informal assessment activities.
- Contributing observations and judgements of the communication strengths and barriers of individuals to the SLT and wider MDT.
- Contributing observations and judgements of the eating, drinking and swallowing (EDS) needs of the client group.
- Working within evidence-based practice for caseload, technology and approaches to intervention.
- Assisting the SLT in the provision of training courses to others, relating to both the communication and the EDS needs of the client group.
- Mentoring and coaching less experienced staff and students.
- Taking leadership in designated service improvement projects connected to own area of skills/expertise.
