Job summary
We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Assistant Psychologist to join our multidisciplinary Chronic Pain Service on the Isle of Wight.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with proven experience of working clinically and directly with service users in health or mental health settings. The role involves supporting the delivery of psychologically informed care to adults living with persistent pain, many of whom also experience complex emotional, social, or trauma-related difficulties.
Working under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist, you will:
- Support delivery of group-based pain management programmes and psychological education.
- Assist in the assessment and formulation of service users' needs using psychological models.
- Deliver low-intensity, evidence-based interventions (e.g. ACT, CBT-informed approaches).
- Collect clinical outcome data and support service evaluation, audits, and quality improvement.
- Contribute to a trauma-informed, compassion-focused, and recovery-oriented team culture.
Main duties of the job
You will be part of a friendly, supportive, and integrated team of Clinical and Health Psychologists, Physiotherapists, a specialist Nurse, and pain Consultants. Regular supervision and development opportunities will be provided, including experience with complex comorbidities across physical and mental health.
This post would be ideal for someone preparing for further clinical training and keen to consolidate their applied skills in a meaningful, multidisciplinary setting.
The role will be based at multiple community sites on the Isle of Wight.
