Job summary

Are you ready to lead and inspire? As a Principal Clinical Psychologist with CAMHS on the Isle of Wight, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping and advancing psychological services for children and young people with complex mental health needs.

Our CAMHS team is proud to lead the way in innovative practices, including the Holistic at Home treatment team and pioneering care pathways designed to enhance patient experience and outcomes. With capped caseloads, the lowest waiting times across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, and a supportive multidisciplinary team, we provide high-quality, patient-centred care.

Main duties of the job

To assess and treat a specialist caseload of clients.

To co-ordinate the provision of specialist psychological approaches and consultation services to external organisations.

To grow clinical skills relating to psychological approaches in the service through teaching, case discussion and the provision of supervision.

To contribute to policy and service development, addressing areas of need and undertaking change initiatives.

To utilise research skills to undertake formal research and complex clinical audit.

As a senior psychologist to support the strategic and leadership role of the Consultant Clinical Psychologist by holding delegated responsibility in key areas of service development, workforce development and quality assurance.

Essential

  • Post-Graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychological, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.
  • Registration with the Health Care Professionals Council (HCPC) as a Practitioner (Clinical) Psychologist.
  • Professional knowledge acquired through doctoral training, supplemented by post qualification short specialist courses and further specialist training/specialist clinical experience & clinical supervision
  • Formal post-qualification training in clinical supervision of other psychologists or equivalent experience.
