This post would be suitable for a Newly Qualified or recently qualified Physiotherapist, and comes with fantastic support and supervision from the whole team!
The postholder will join an integrated therapy team working in partnership with families, other professionals from health, education and social care agencies. As part of a multi-disciplinary and multiagency team, you will provide services for children with a range of neurological, developmental and physical needs.
You will gain experience across various settings; particularly in clinics, mainstream nurseries and schools and specialist settings. Having a particular interest in supporting children with physical disabilities is essential.
You will require excellent communication skills with children, families and professionals and having access to your own transport is essential.
Main duties of the job
To work independently, with guidance and support from senior colleagues, in community clinics, mainstream schools and specialist provisions providing a Physiotherapy Service to a variable caseload of preschool and school aged children many of whom will have special needs.
To work in partnership with parents, school staff, and children, and in liaison with other healthcare staff and the primary care team, to deliver integrated specialised packages of care to children with a range of physical difficulties.
To train students, other healthcare professionals and staff from other agencies who work with children with physical difficulties.
HIOWH NHS Foundation Trust's Integrated Children's Therapy service is for children aged 0-19 who experience challenges with Physical disability, daily functional activities, eating and drinking skills, speech, language and communication.
This is a community service delivered in children's homes, pre-school settings, Children's Centres, mainstream schools, special schools, and community clinics.
Physiotherapists, podiatry, Occupational Therapists and Speech and Language Therapists work together with children and their families as part of multi-agency teams with Health Care professionals across acute and community services, Education, social care colleagues and Equipment providers, to enable children achieve their therapy goals.
