Job summary
Would you like a role which uses all of your skills? Working across the mental health wards in the restorative location of St James' Health Campus, Portsmouth you will provide leadership and organisation to the team of Activity Co-ordinators as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who wants to work using trauma informed and recovery principles to improve the experience and care of people on acute mental health wards.
You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and enjoy working collaboratively with colleagues within the wider multidisciplinary team.
We provide a weekday service (including bank holidays) across two shifts 8:30 to 16:30 and 12:00 to 20:00 and weekends 8:30 to 16:30.
Main duties of the job
- To co-ordinate and support the Therapeutic programme across four wards.
- Deliver a range of social, physical and creative activities which are accessible and meaningful to the service users.
- Support in management of risk, developing therapeutic relationships, supporting people to live meaningful and fulfilling lives.
- Act as a role model for team members, supporting new or less experienced colleagues.
- This role will assist and support registered staff and carry out assigned tasks as directed, without supervision.
- This role will demonstrate excellent communication skills, using them to engage, persuade or negotiate with clients with complex, at times challenging needs to ensure they are provided with the most appropriate care and support.
