Specialty Doctor in Perinatal Psychiatry
The closing date is 21 July 2025
Job summary
Are you a dynamic, forward-thinking doctor with a passion for perinatal mental health? We are seeking a Specialty Doctor to join our expanding community perinatal mental health team. This is an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of high-quality, compassionate care for women and their families during the perinatal period.
You'll work alongside experienced consultants including Dr Gloria Lakra, Dr Holly Kirwin, Dr Qurat Khurram, Dr Ekta Mutta, and a supportive MDT. Based predominantly in East and North Hampshire, you'll play a key role in clinical leadership, assessment, and multidisciplinary team discussions, while building strong links with maternity services, GPs, health visitors and children's services.
This new role offers the chance to shape and develop the post with your clinical/educational supervisor. There will also be occasional cover at the regional Mother and Baby Unit.
Driving is essential, and you must hold a valid UK licence due to the community nature of the post.
We're excited to welcome an enthusiastic and skilled clinician eager to make a real difference in the lives of women and their infants. Come and help us build on the success of our service and drive innovation in perinatal care.

- medical cover in collaboration with other colleagues.
- Managing complex clinical information using a biopsychosocial approach to develop clear formulations.
- Engaging effectively with carers and inpatient teams to support holistic care.
- Assessing and managing risk, providing clear communication and support to the MDT to ensure safe, hopeful, and person-centred care.
- Ensuring compliance with care planning, safeguarding, and risk management policies.
- Maintaining a strong focus on clinical outcomes and patient experience.
- Supporting junior doctors and medical team members through education, supervision, and leadership, appropriate to experience.
- Promoting learning and improvement by supporting reflection on incidents, complaints, and good practice.
- Escalating clinical concerns promptly to the Consultant or Divisional Medical Director when needed.
This role requires compassionate, proactive clinicians ready to support high-quality, recovery-oriented inpatient care.
