Job summary
The Hampshire CAMHS North Early Help Team is offering an exciting opportunity to join our multi-disciplinary team covering Basingstoke as a Senior Mental Health Practitioner. The role is 30 hrs a week. A core qualification in nursing, social work or occupational therapy is essential. Previous leadership experience, working knowledge of relevant national polices and guidance in relation to children's mental health services, and an understanding of the role of users and carers in service development are also essential.
The service is undergoing a period of growth and development, as we seek to expand and develop our stepped model of care for young people, delivering a range of evidence-based group interventions. You will undertake regular CAMHS assessments to ascertain young people's suitability for our service, and there may be occasional opportunities to deliver specialist and evidence based therapeutic interventions to small numbers of young people. Supporting our Duty function is also an integral part of the role.
You will have a thorough knowledge of assessment and understanding mental health presentations in children and young people, and an appreciation of the dynamics within families. You will have a range of therapeutic skills and demonstrable experience in managing risk and complexity.
You will also be responsible for regular liaison with our community partners and internal and external stakeholders, as well as the clinical and line management supervision of members of the team.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work in partnership with service users in the designated care group with complex health presentations, developing their care plans and recovery plans to enable them to lead fulfilling lives.
They will provide specialist assessment and interventions relevant to the care group to include education, care plans and discharge planning, working closely with carers, families, and partner agencies to facilitate this.
The post holder will work at all times to promote the safety and the wellbeing of service users and their families/carers.
The post holder will assess, plan, and implement care, and provide specialist advice and interventions including supporting other members of the team.
They will provide clinical supervision to staff and students and act as a mentor for students. They will provide line management responsibilities if required within the designated area.
They will participate in review of clinical policies and guidelines relevant to the area and support and implement changes to practice; liaise with other organisations and professionals to promote communication and good practice; be able to undertake audit activity.
Understand psychosocial interventions to include psychoeducation, wellness recovery action plans and discharge planning.
