Job summary
This post would be suitable for a Clinical Psychologist or CBT Therapist wishing to develop their skills in working with people with eating disorders. For applicants who might be interested, there will be the opportunity to apply for a place on the PG Cert programme (one year CBT-ED top-up training) delivered by UCL. This post will be based at North End, Portsmouth, and may also include some remote working.
The role also offers exciting opportunities for direct clinical work, service development and multi-disciplinary team working. You will provide evidence-based psychological therapies to people experiencing a wide range of eating disorders, many of whom present with comorbid mental health difficulties. The role will involve delivering individual and group interventions, as well as some joint work with our day service staff. You will also be involved in providing consultation, training and supervision to others within and outside of the team.
You will join a supportive team of clinicians, committed to delivering high quality care and promoting recovery. You will receive regular supervision and will have the opportunity to join our reflective practice group. Within the service we offer a range of evidence-based interventions, including CBT-ED, DBT, SSCM, MANTRA and psychodynamic psychotherapy. We also work closely with families and carers.
Main duties of the job
To provide a qualified specialist clinical psychology service to patients of the Eating Disorders Service providing specialist psychological assessment and therapy at the same time as offering advice and consultation on patients' psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other, non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures. To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service. To undertake a personal research and development programme and develop and encourage a research culture within the clinical team. The post holder will place an emphasis on co-production and demonstrate an attitude which respects and values patients' and their carers and the core values of the trust: patients and people first; partnership; and respect.
