Job summary

As a Healthcare Support Worker, you will work closely with patients, their families and carers. You will be essential in ensuring those who use our mental health services have a positive experience and will work as part of our dedicated teams comprising of nurses, healthcare support workers, activity coordinators, social workers, occupational therapists and psychiatrists.

In our physical health services we have;

We require candidates to be flexible across all shift patterns, including weekdays, weekends, nights and bank holidays.

Main duties of the job

  • This role can be part of a career pathway, which includes Senior Health Care Support Worker and the Associate Practitioner role.
  • You will work as a member of a multidisciplinary team alongside service users to promote independence and daily living skills, including personal hygiene, diet and fluids, encouraging them to engage in social or leisure activities as identified within their Care Plan.
  • This role will provide support in management of risk, developing therapeutic relationships, supporting people to live meaningful and fulfilling lives.
  • Act as a role model for team members, supporting new or less experienced colleagues.
  • This role will assist and support qualified staff and carry out assigned tasks as directed, without supervision. This will include housekeeping duties where required.
  • This role will demonstrate excellent communication skills, using them to engage, persuade or negotiate with clients with complex, at times challenging needs to ensure they are provided with the most appropriate care and support.

  • GCSE in Maths and English or equivalentQualification at Level 2 or in Health and Social Care or other relevant subject

  • Previous experience in a health or care setting
  • NVQ Level 2 in Care

  • Ability to undertake and pass Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression (PMVA) training as required for role.
