Job summary
We are looking for a Clinical Psychologist to join the Portsmouth & South East Hampshire Mental Health Liaison Team within the highly valued psychology service. Working with inpatients of the general hospital across the whole care pathway and building links with appropriate outpatient services locally to play a major role in getting people in mental health crisis the support they need.
We are looking for a motivated and committed person, who will have experience of working with people with complex mental health problems and developing psychologically-informed practice within a multi-disciplinary team. You will have a proven track record of developing clinical interventions at the pace required for a mental health liaison setting.
This is an excellent opportunity for the right person to help build psychological skills within a well-established team. The post-holder will contribute to shaping the vision and delivery of the MHLT assessment and intervention by working with other psychologists and in training and supervision of other members of the team. This role will also enable you to build on your service evaluation and research skills as well as supervising mental health practitioners and trainee clinical psychologists on placement.
Main duties of the job
*To provide a qualified psychology service to clients of the Mental Health Liaison (MHLT) as agreed with the Lead Psychologist and Senior Clinical Psychologist.
*To provide highly specialist psychological assessment, formulation and therapy for inpatients of Portsmouth Hospital.
*To offer advice and consultation on clients' psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other, non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures.
*To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service.
*To carry out other clinical work, research activity and training as agreed with the Lead Psychologist.
*To be responsible for some junior Psychology staff which may include attached Doctoral Trainees on placement, Clinical Associate Psychologists (CAPs), Assistant Psychologists or Undergraduate Psychology Students.
*To be responsible for an on-going programme of personal professional development.
