Research Mental Health Nurse

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and driven Registered Mental Health Nurse/AHP to become part of our busy and friendly Research Department team within Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust

The post holder will be working within the Research Department to support the delivery of high quality health and social care studies within the Mental Health Division. Our research team plays a vital role in setting up research studies to take place at HIOWH, recruiting patients and carers to take part, and ensuring the smooth running of clinical trials in the research facility.

The successful applicant would also have a key role in supporting delivery of later phase research trials and administering the assessments for both physical and mental health participants. A comprehensive induction and training programme (including training and support to develop specialist assessment skills) will be offered.

The post holder will have a specialist knowledge in mental health enabling them to work independently and will autonomously assist in the management of clinical trial patients, whilst working as part of a multi-disciplinary team led by the trial Principal Investigators. The post holder will be working alongside a large team of staff based across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, supporting both commercial and non-commercial portfolio research activity throughout the organisation

Main duties of the job

Research Delivery

*To Act as study co-ordinator for research studies, under indirect supervision of Research Delivery Lead Nurse

*Have an awareness of legislation and the Mental Capacity Act; take informed consent as per study protocol

*To manage the feasibility and set-up of trials against NIHR metrics

*Support Research Delivery Lead Nurse in the management of recruitment into research trials against time and target

*Work to broaden research across diseases and Trust geography

Line Management

*Provide line management support

*Work with the Research Delivery Lead Nurse to ensure the appropriate systems to support Trust researchers are in place in all aspects of the R&I process, ensuring that all governance elements are met

*Support the Research Delivery Lead Nurse in ensuring that Clinical Research Practitioners have adequate knowledge and skills for effective delivery of research support activities

*As agreed with the Research Delivery Lead Nurse, produce documents, plans and reports, including performance metrics, and research recruitment reports

*Ensure that documents are prepared to a high standard, are delivered on time, and are approved by the Research Delivery Lead Nurse

Study subject recruitment

*To identify patients suitable for entry into portfolio adopted research studies, according to specific protocols and guidelines. This may include attending clinics and multidisciplinary team meetings, reviewing medical notes and inclusion/exclusion criteria
