Consultant Clinical Psychologist opportunity!

You will ensure the systematic provision of a high-quality specialist clinical psychology service to individuals & their carers of the clinical team to which the post holder is attached, across all sectors of care. As a senior clinician, with substantial clinical experience & post-qualification training, you will provide a high level of expertise across the Community Learning Disability (LD) Service. You will oversee & co-ordinate service development & direct delivery of the range of psychological consultations/assessments, & interventions inline with the current evidence base/best practice. You will ensure the appropriate delivery of assessment, interventions/outcomes for people, their families & carers who require the Community LD services in East Hampshire.

You will work autonomously within professional guidelines, exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice for those working within the service, including clear systems for effective recruitment, professional appraisal, supervision,& the identification of CPD.

Offering a highly specialist resource to the division & the wider professional community. This includes carrying out audit, policy/service development, service evaluation/research activities & / or programmes as a major component of the job holders responsibility. Working in conjunction with the Divisional Lead for Psychological Therapies, you will propose & implement policy &service development changes.

As Consultant Clinical Psychologist you will have overall responsibility within the Locality for maintaining a safe and effective psychological service that meets Quality and Governance and professional standards. You will be expected to manage a caseload and co-ordinate the caseloads of other qualified and unqualified psychological therapies staff within the Locality. You will also be expected to maintain a safe system of monitoring individuals/carers who may be waiting for psychological input, and signpost for alternative support as appropriate. You will be expected to provide clinical leadership for the development of psychological services across the Learning Disabilities Division.

Essential

  • Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.
  • Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Practitioner Psychologist

Desirable

  • Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialized areas of psychological practice.

Experience

Essential

  • Assessed experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist for a substantial period with substantial post qualification experience within the designated specialty where the post is located.
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and presenting with the full range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings including outpatient, community, primary care, in-patient and residential care settings including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
