Job summary
The Acting Up role of Service Manager in the Liaison Services is a pivotal role within the service, and we are looking for someone with the passion, skills and motivation to drive the service; and to work closely with PHU Service Managers within mental health secondary care, whilst focussing on transformation and delivery across the service.
The Mental Health Liaison Team provides specialist assessment and intervention for patients from any area aged 18 and above, across the Emergency Department and all inpatient wards in QAH.

- Ensuring that the workforce work within service user, trust expectations, and is within budget

- Able to effectively build strong working relationships with our colleagues in Portsmouth Hospitals University Trust (PHU) to ensure mental health patients receive compassionate care while in QAH.

Main duties of the job
*To lead the implementation of a developing liaison psychiatry team for adult and older adults based at Queen Alexandra Hospital to meet the requirements to become PLAN accredited and meet CORE-24 standards.
*To lead the service, and promote a culture based on principles of recovery, choice and personalised care, in which service users can expect to be active in decision-making about their care and treatment.
*To work in an effective partnership with senior clinicians, commissioners, acute hospital leadership, SHFT Head of All Age Liaison Psychiatry Services and divisional operational leadership team.
*To promote an understanding amongst the workforce and the division of its role in seeing our business succeed and thrive.
*To deploy the capacity of the service in order to ensure that demand is met by the most appropriately skilled practitioners, and to ensure that service users 'flow' through the acute hospital according to need. This includes being accountable for delivery of a proactive caseload management system and supporting delivery of the team's KPIs.
*To ensure the service works in line with agreed pathways, policies and guidelines, and is focussed on delivery of outcomes.
*To co-ordinate the management of the senior clinical and operational staff, ensuring effective training, ongoing professional development and professional supervision is maintained for all staff.
