Applications are invited for a Band 6 Clinical Associate in Psychology (CAP). The post will involve a combination of direct clinical work, team working and service development. You will undertake specialist psychological assessment, formulation and evidence-based interventions with people experiencing a range of complex perinatal mental health issues. The post is based at Otterbourne, near Winchester but does require travel across Hampshire.
You will be joining the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Perinatal Mental Health Service. We are a friendly and supportive team of clinicians, who pride ourselves on delivering high quality care and promoting recovery. You will receive regular supervision from a senior psychologist, as well as having opportunities for peer supervision. CPD is actively supported, with opportunities for further training. Within the service, we offer a range of interventions, including: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), family interventions. Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT).
Main duties of the job
To communicate constructively with a range of healthcare professionals in a variety of services including nurses, social workers, allied health professionals (AHPs) and medical colleagues as part of a multi-professional team
Link directly with the psychology team while reporting to a Clinical Psychologist regarding psychological assessment, formulation and intervention
Build relationships with professionals across the team and wider external agencies.
Work as part of a multi-professional community team and liaise with relevant external agencies to facilitate and enable psychological interventions
Communicate to others the core concepts of psychological theory, research and practice in order to enhance their delivery of psychological interventions.
Provide training for others to inform and support psychological models of change and interventions
Explain the rationales to individuals, groups and other healthcare colleagues, for evidence-based psychological treatment models and protocols
To play an active role in the wider psychology team, attending meetings and CPD as required.
Participate in the delivery of audit and service improvement projects leading to the continuous enhancement and quality improvement of clinical practice
Facilitate regular psychoeducation workshops covering anxiety, intrusive thoughts, CPTSD and depression
To play an active role in the Brief Intervention Pathway-offering short term psychological therapy for individuals with perinatal mental health difficulties.
