Radiology Department Assistant

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust

The closing date is 09 May 2025

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and proactive individual to join our Radiology Clinical Assistants Team. We take pride in our professionalism and offer a supportive environment where you can develop new skills.

Your duties will include preparing patients for examinations, performing clinical tasks such as cannulating, and assisting our Radiographic Team to ensure that patient care is always your top priority.

A valid driving license and access to your own transport are essential for this role, as the successful candidate will be required to work across three sites in the picturesque New Forest area.

Please note: If you have applied for this position within the last 12 months, please do not apply again. We appreciate your interest and encourage you to stay updated on future opportunities with us.

Main duties of the job

Previous experience is desirable but not essential. If you are caring, methodical, energetic and a strong team player looking to begin your career in the NHS, we would love to hear from you. If you have no prior experience, you will start at Band 2. Upon successful completion of all training and sign-off of specific job responsibilities (typically within 4-6 months), you will progress to Band 3.

The successful candidate will be based at Lymington New Forest Hospital, and will rotate through our community sites at Romsey and Hythe after an appropriate induction period.

Lymington is a busy community hospital offering local GP services, on-site clinics, theatre cases, ward work, and supporting the privately run Urgent Treatment Centre. As a Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC), Lymington provides plain film services, fluoroscopy, DXA scanning suites, and facilities for CT, MRI, and Ultrasound. Romsey and Hythe provide plain film and ultrasound services.

As a team player, you'll need to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain a customer-focused approach. The ability to multi-task and think quickly will be essential, and you must be prepared to be on your feet for long periods. A high level of confidentiality is also crucial.
