The Mid and North Area covers the towns and countryside of North Hampshire surrounding Winchester, Andover, Basingstoke and Alton. Our inpatient mental health services are centred at Parklands Hospital, Basingstoke. Our CMHTs services are based in Winchester, Andover and Basingstoke, working alongside 10 primary care network mental health teams. We have adult and older adult CMHTs which are needs led. The older adult teams also include Memory Assessment Service and Care Home In-reach.

The Mid and North Hampshire Psychological Therapies Team is a thriving, active and expanding team of psychologists and psychological therapists, with close working with the wider OPMH teams across the Trust. We are dedicated to delivering superb quality, evidence-based interventions. We pride ourselves on contributing to the development and implementation of innovative interventions. Regular specialist clinical and neuropsychological supervision will be provided. The Trust has strong links with Southampton University, particularly with the Doctoral Programme in Clinical Psychology, the MSc/Diploma in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy for Severe Mental Health Problems and training courses for IAPT.

Main duties of the job

The job will involve providing highly specialist psychological assessments and intervention strategies including specialist neuropsychological assessment. A crucial aspect is the provision of leadership, training and consultation to the OPMH clinical team who provide psychologically based care and treatment whilst also supporting the professional development of the psychological services staff while ensuring appropriate supervision and governance of psychological therapies.

The post-holder will work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the service. The post-holder will utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development, research and teaching and act as a highly specialist resource to the wider professional community. The post-holder will propose and implement policy changes within the OPMH Psychological Therapies service throughout the trust working closely with other 8b colleagues and the trust Consultant Lead OPMH Psychological Therapies Service and working flexibly to support this role. This will include a role in effective recruitment, professional appraisal, and the identification of CPD needs.

  • *Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Practitioner Psychologist
