Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic Qualified CBT Therapist or Clinical Psychologist to join the new, pioneering Specialist Mental Health Support Team (MHST) that will be working with Children and Young people and their families in Special Schools and with those who are electively home educated. This post will lead this innovative new team in building our specialist offer in the county.
The team forms part of the Early Help provision within Hampshire CAMHS so will be working closely with the existing Primary Mental Health Service and other MHSTs in the region as well as the Community CAMHS teams, including the specialist Learning Disability and Autism Team.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will work closely with the service clinical lead and team manager in supporting the development of the team. They will provide supervision to low intensity practitioners in the team and either have completed or be willing to work towards a postgraduate qualification in evidence-based supervision as per the MHST model. They will have a passion and motivation for working with Autistic children and young people with or without a learning disability, to improve the mental health and emotional wellbeing of this population.
As part of this role, you will offer assessments and specialist interventions to children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties, as well as contributing to the core work of the team. The role also provides the opportunity to deliver evidence-based group interventions, as well as Whole School Approach work, including consultation and advice to school staff; advice and consultation to parents and carers during stay & play sessions, coffee mornings or inset days and working closely with SENCos, MH Leads and school heads to support escalation of behaviours that require a 'getting help' level of care.
You will receive regular supervision and will have opportunities to link with other specialist practitioners in the Trust, as well as access training opportunities offered by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
