Job summary
We are looking for a specialist Occupational Therapist with an interest in prosthetic rehabilitation to work as part of the multidisciplinary team delivering prosthetic rehabilitation to patients on the Isle of Wight.
The role will require the successful candidate to work autonomously across a variety of settings, including the Prosthetics department, community locations, in-patient wards and patients own homes.
You will work as an integral member of the Prosthetic Rehabilitation multidisciplinary team (which also comprises a physiotherapist, a prosthetist, a nurse, a counsellor, an assistant practitioner and visiting consultant) providing high quality specialist occupational therapy interventions to those with acquired or congenital limb loss. You will be accountable to the Clinical/Professional Lead for Orthotics and Prosthetics and line managed by the Team Leader for Prosthetics.
This position would suit someone who enjoys working as part of a multidisciplinary team, as well as independently, who is able to manage their own workload and determine priorities and can problem solve to achieve the best result for their patients.
Experience of working within Prosthetics would be beneficial but is not essential as all relevant training and support will be provided.
This role may suit an OT who wishes to extend their knowledge into a specialised area and could be considered in combination with another role due to the part-time nature, or may suit someone wishing to reduce their hours.

- To design and prescribe adaptations to the patient's physical and social environment and provide advice to patients and/or colleagues for major adaptations, referring to other services if needed.
- To provide specialist OT reports as necessary, sharing with appropriate agencies/professional with patient consent.
- To ensure that any wheelchair issued to a patient with limb loss is appropriate to their needs and safe for their use.
- To participate in the planning, evaluation, implementation and audit of clinical practice and protocols within prosthetics and prosthetic rehabilitation.
