Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and forward-thinking leader to take up the role of head of nursing and quality in Southampton community mental health services. In this role you will be responsible for the strategic, financial and day-to-day running of a diverse portfolio of mental health services. This includes adult community mental health services and bespoke specialist teams. As a clinical leader you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of clinical care are provided to our population. You will be working within a supportive environment, working as part of a team that values empathy dedication and professionalism. As part of the senior leadership team you will coach, line manage and develop clinical staff. You will support and contribute to undertaking audits and governance and contribute to developing and reviewing local operating procedures for the services.
You will chair and facilitate key meetings to ensure that you have robust oversight of quality and performance monitoring within your services. You will be joining an existing stable leadership team with a culture of collaborative leadership. The post holder will be an integral member of the Divisional Senior Management Team and will be involved in working with key stakeholders and partners to support Southampton in providing safe clinical service delivery. You will be expected to play an active role on the Divisional Board, supporting the strategic development of community mental health services.
Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide professional clinical expertise; advice and guidance that will drive high quality care standards and deliver recovery focused, compassionate services.
This role will spend a proportion of its time working clinically; providing clinical leadership and supervision at the frontline. Working with our staff and partners on the most complex cases; supporting clinical risk decisions to ensure the best possible outcomes for people.
This role will work collaboratively with external partners; flexing across traditional boundaries of work and thinking to ensure high quality and safe clinical practice is maintained for the people that use our services and our staff.

*To provide visible professional clinical leadership and expertise to all staff in the Division; establishing a culture of professionalism and constructive challenge to improve outcomes.
*Working with the Divisional Director of Nursing and AHP lead transformational change, with partners, throughout the clinical services in the Division to improve the health needs of the local population.
*Role model and promote a culture that reflects the values of the organisation and the NHS more widely, applying relevant national initiatives and strategies.
*Provide professional leadership to all Nursing and AHP staff within their Division enabling each person's unique clinical expert contribution to inform peoples care
*Provide evidence based expert nursing leadership, working in partnership with corporate support partners on divisional and Trust priorities e.g. workforce, education and training outcomes.
*Support and chair, as required, professional forums, networks and governance meetings in partnership with other managers & clinicians
