Job summary

Special School Nursing is a developing field of nursing where you will use and develop a multitude of clinical and holistic nursing skills. We are looking for an experienced, motivated, and dynamic nurse to join our friendly and experienced Special School Nursing Team. We provide Specialist School Nursing to nine Special Schools across Hampshire and the IOW

The Special School Nursing team works collaboratively with children, families, school staff and the wider multi-disciplinary team within the education setting to ensure a supportive and caring learning environment. The nursing team are responsible for ensuring the health needs of the children are met using a family centered approach to assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the health needs of the children within a specialist education provision. The role will include teaching and training of school staff, creating care plans and supervision of delegated skills including children and young people with a range of complex care, epilepsy and seizure management, enteral feeding, tracheostomy care, caseload management and line management of a small specialist team.

The candidate must hold either a registration as a Children's or Learning Disability Nurse with recent experience of working with children and people with learning disabilities. Previous experience of special school nursing would be desirable.

Main duties of the job

Supervise junior members of staff, students on placements.

To develop and maintain a culture of service improvement which promotes quality and safety and striving to do better.
