Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join our Orthopaedic inpatient and Musculoskeletal (MSK) out patient team on the Isle of Wight. This is a rotational role that combines and integrates two related physiotherapy disciplines.
The post holder will have the opportunity to work on patient pathways for orthopaedic elective and trauma patients and develop and integrate them alongside the MSK team.
The successful candidate will have the ability to work independently in busy MSK clinics and as part of the team on acute inpatient orthopaedic wards. Both services have exciting developments ongoing, such as same day ambulatory arthroplasty orthopaedic surgery and new MSK lower limb classes.
This role will based at St Marys Hospital for the orthopaedic element, and various MSK clinic locations around the beautiful Isle of Wight.
Main duties of the job
To independently hold responsibility for a caseload and be responsible for a defined area of the service or a particular patient type, working without direct supervision, rotating between specialist areas.
Independently assessing diverse and complex presentations, to provide a diagnosis and ongoing treatment and management plan
Working alongside all members of the Multi disciplinary team and able to communicate clearly and professionally
Supporting and supervising other team members and students (pre and post grad) to ensure staff are well supported and able to provide high quality care
Understanding the pressures of NHS services and able to prioritise, organise and manage caseloads, waiting lists and administrative tasks. Comfortable using numerous IT systems and platforms

- Degree in Physiotherapy.
- HCPC Registration
Desirable
- Relevant post graduate accredited training e.g. MsC modules such as history taking and physical examination, SOM, etc.
Experience

- Broad range of experience at band 5 level including ICU, medical, surgery, neurology, orthopaedics, musculoskeletal outpatients and elderly care
- Demonstrate up to date knowledge of best clinical practice in relevant specialty
- Participation in on-call and/or weekend rota
- Experience of working as part of a physiotherapy team and multidisciplinary team
- Continued Professional Development Diary inc evidence or reflective practice, in service training any courses attended and clinical experience gained
- Remains up to date with professional practice and new research
- Understands the legal responsibilities of the profession
