Job summary

Are you ready to be a steady support for children and young people facing mental health challenges in Hampshire? Join us as a Support Time and Recovery (STaR) worker, where you'll play a crucial role in guiding them towards better days.

Covering sites across the county, our STaR workers help our young people identify their needs and foster strong connections. You'll work closely with the young people to plan personalised support programmes, making sure each step fits their unique journey to feeling better. You'll also work with and involve their families and friends, because we know having a solid support system is important.

In your role, you'll connect the young people with other helpful organisations, agencies, and resources. You'll keep careful records of everything, so we can track their progress and make sure they're getting the support they need.

Working as part of the multi-disciplinary team, you'll directly focus on the recovery needs of the child/young person, providing the necessary support and time to aid recovery and improve mental health and wellbeing outcomes. You'll collaborate under the direction of the lead professional who manages care and therapeutic interventions, following a Thrive approach.

Main duties of the job

This role is to provide child and young person recovery focused interventions to address complex care needs for those receiving therapy to deliver a recovery focused vision and support patient flow through the service.

The postholder will undertake specific identified recovery roles, under the guidance of the trained lead clinician, with a focus of intervention on:

*Enabling and relationship building to support and promote well-being by promoting connectivity, acceptance and supporting a child and young person focused journey through the service.

*Community working, considering social and environmental factors of health care provision, enabling conditions to access resources and address safety needs by working collaboratively with families and the network. This includes working to develop daily activities promoting social inclusion and supporting organisational commitment.

*Developing autonomy and empowerment for young people and families in receipt of CAMH Services by supporting in delivering personally defined recovery care planned interventions, promoting citizenship and supporting connectivity and empowerment.

To work within a multi-disciplinary team of CAMHS professionals in providing targeted recovery focused interventions as identified and care planned by the allocated lead clinician.

To work under the guidance of an allocated clinician to provide time limited task and goal focused recovery interventions to support with the delivery of an evidenced based therapeutic treatment plan.

The transformation will happen in staggered stages; Hampshire CAMHS, part of Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust joined Southern Health in February 2024, with Isle of Wight NHS Trust mental health and community services transitioning in early May 2024. The final combination of Southern Health and Solent Trusts is anticipated to occur in July 2024, when the new organisation will be formed.

Our new Trust will continue to cater to the unique needs of different communities, making healthcare across the county more accessible, as well as offering staff more opportunities for career development, training and partnership working.

NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care and skills acquired through experience OR equivalent levels of experience or training working in a health or social care setting

Batchelors degree in a relevant subject (e.g. psychology, social policy, health sciences)
