We are looking for a dedicated clinical specialist Physiotherapist and Practice Educator to join our acute inpatient physiotherapy team.
You will be given dedicated time in your split role, to lead the learning and development agenda for registered and unregistered acute Physiotherapy (PT) staff underpinned by training, education, and the creation of positive learning environments where staff development is encouraged and supported.
Ensuring registered staff are fit to practise to maintain HCPC registration, you will take the Lead role in managing and developing PT student placements, external clinician placements and PT apprentices.
Always keep requirements in mind and seek out to improve, including achieving customer service performance targets
There will be opportunities to ensure internationally recruited staff are fully integrated into the acute service whilst you provide visible clinical leadership and presence across the inpatient PT services working with Therapy Service Leads and Acute Clinical Leads to facilitate and support innovation in the pursuit of clinical excellence.
Main duties of the job
To work with the Clinical Specialists and Acute Team Leads to design and contribute to the delivery of in-service training programmes for acute inpatient specialties across registered and unregistered staff.
To ensure core competencies are in place for Bands 2 to 4 and review and update competencies as required.
To ensure all AHP support staff (unregistered) are trained and assessed to meet competency standards relevant to their grade and role.
To ensure the support worker framework is followed and that all unregistered staff have the opportunity to develop their career pathway through relevant in-service or external training programmes/apprenticeships.
Working with Therapy Service Leads, Therapy Clinical Leads and Acute Team Leads to ensure practice is evidence based, or based on best practice where there is lack of evidence base.
Be a highly visible clinical role model, working alongside acute staff in clinical practice to understand the requirements of different areas of each specialty, including medical, surgical, respiratory and critical care
Maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job, participate in appropriate training activities and encourage and support staff development and training.
Regular exposure to moderate physical effort in clinical practice and unpleasant working conditions can be expected.
You will be required undertake 7 day working, support the On Call rota and you may be required to work occasional Bank Holidays.
