You will be joining a friendly, supportive, and creative multi-disciplinary team which currently include Nurses, occupational therapist, speech and language therapist and admin. The team provides assessment and intervention for young people who have a learning disability, who also experience mental health difficulties, emotional distress / dysregulation, and / or people who present with challenging behaviour. The LD/A team uses the model of Positive Behaviour Support.
This post will work across Hampshire and therefore you will be able to identify the base that is closest to where you live. This post will sit within our psychology offer.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a behaviour specialist to work under a clinical psychologist who will provide regular supervision. The Successful candidate will support the development of our challenging behaviour pathway and help us to be consistent with our offer across the county. They will be proficient and knowledgeable in carrying out functional assessment then implementing and evaluating individual care plans to manage the difficulties. The behaviour specialist will be expected to utilise practical and theoretical knowledge, maintain excellent therapeutic professional relationships regarding all aspect of care, demonstrate a variety of communication skills in accordance with service users needs. They will also be an excellent team player that is able to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.
You will have opportunities to link with other clinicians that sit under psychology as well as access to training opportunities offered by the trust. We would also encourage external informal links with other specialist services to share best practice.

- Bachelor level qualification in topic related to behaviour analysis / psychology / intellectual disability / education
- Masters level training in applied behaviour analysis and intervention in learning disability or closely related degree topic.
- Training towards or accreditation as Board Certified Behaviour Analyst.
Desirable
- Qualifications in Applied Behaviour Analysis, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology.
- Further post graduate training in relevant areas of Applied Behaviour Analysis / Positive Behaviour Support / Psychology
