Job summary

Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust are looking for a Device Support Technician to help provide hands on IT technical support on-site and remotely for users located across the Trust.

The successful candidate will play a key part in helping to support the above.

You will enjoy a varied range of work including, incident management, data gathering, configuring and testing software and hardware, installation of new and replacement equipment, auditing, asset management and recovery of trust devices.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and hard-working individual with technical experience of a minimum three years or a relevant degree.

You must have a high level of knowledge of Microsoft systems and products, as well as being able to provide advice regarding web and networking solutions.

Main duties of the job

Provide hands on IT technical support on-site and remotely, resolving faults and providing advice and training for staff using laptops, PCs, smartphones, tablets and printers.

This will involve communicating technical issues to a non-technical person and owning the problem through to satisfactory resolution for the user. This will also include:

*Escalating unsolved problems.

*Keep users informed regarding status of outstanding problems.

*Methods for communication will be by telephone, email, written and in person.

*To ensure that all support calls and requests are dealt with appropriately and in accordance with defined policies and procedures.

*Assist other IT teams in projects at an appropriate level for post, eg

*Data gathering, eg hardware and software configuration details

*Configuring and testing software and hardware

*Installation of new and replacement equipment

*Auditing, asset management and recovery of trust devices.

*Ensure the integrity of desktop/laptop security, escalating all breaches of security policies and procedures.

*Record all activities in line with IT procedures and work within agreed change control processes.

*Work within an ITIL based framework for managing incidents and requests.

*The nature of the work will mean that a number of tasks will require completion outside the normal core office hours, subject to prior agreement.

*The role holder may be required to be part of the IT on call rota.

The final combination of Southern Health and Solent Trusts is anticipated to occur in July 2024, when the new organisation will be formed.
