Job summary

The professional lead for allied health professionals (AHP) will support the deputy director of Nursing and AHP in being accountable for the strategic professional leadership across the acute and crisis mental health organisation. Working with the leadership triumvirates to ensure an AHP voice is clear. Whilst also working with the deputy chief AHP to contribute to the Trust's strategy for developing AHP services and practices.

The professional lead provides assurance, guidance, and oversight for all AHP professions in areas around workforce, governance, clinical strategy and professional practice. They also promote/lead on shared learning and integration between the therapies and wider health professions.

Main duties of the job

To provide visible (in person or virtually) and readily available professional leadership and expertise to all AHPs, registered and unregistered workforce in the clinical pathway. Line managing the band 7s in the inpatient units. To support all staff to deliver excellent care in partnership with patients and carers. They will provide professional expertise that facilitates evidence-based decision making as part of the MDT. This will ensure high quality care standards and deliver recovery focused, compassionate services.

To lead on specific initiatives that impact on the people and quality of AHP practices and the continual improvement of the service user experience. Supporting the services to ensure true co production in all service development and QI.

To be accountable for the formulation and review of AHP professional policy/standards.

The post holder will have experience of working in mental health services. Will have a good understanding of the challenges associated with working in acute and crisis services. They will have a good understanding of working in the MDT and experience of supporting various AHP professions.

The post holder will be clinically credible in the setting and lead by example being able to work clinically to support with complex cases.

The final combination of Southern Health and Solent Trusts is anticipated to occur in July 2024, when the new organisation will be formed.
