Job summary
Antelope House is our acute mental health inpatient and psychiatric intensive care unit in Southampton. Antelope house offers high quality, recovery focused care to adult with a range of mental health needs. We have; 2 acute wards, Trinity and Saxon, and 2 Psychiatric intensive care units, Hamtun and Abbey Ward. Hamtun Ward is a 10 bedded male psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU).
We are looking for forward thinking individuals with great communication skills, who are highly motivated to empower others and willing to work with a strong team ethos to work within Antelope house and based on Hamtun (male PICU).
Hamtun Ward aims to provide individualised care to each service user during a time of acute mental health crisis and we aim to work in a collaborative way with them and their families and carers in a recovery focused way until a time where they can be supported to maintain their mental and physical wellbeing within the community.
Service users are at the centre of everything we do. You will become part of a team that offers a safe environment to all service users that will encourage individuality and promote anti discriminatory practices with residents with regards to gender, sexuality, age, religion, disability and cultural diversity.
Main duties of the job
As a Healthcare Support Worker you will provide physical and psychological care to service users in accordance with the specified plan of clinical care. You will carry out
duties as designated by the person in charge and accurately record patient/service user information. In addition to this, you will provide support to relatives/carers.
